IRS Ghanasyam Soni, Zonal Director, NCB Rajasthan, Honored with ‘Bharat Gaurav Award 2024’

Jodhpur, Rajasthan : The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Rajasthan, proudly announces that Ghanasyam Soni, IRS, Zonal Director of NCB Rajasthan, has been honored with the prestigious ‘Bharat Gaurav Award 2024.’ The award was conferred at a grand ceremony held at The Imperial Hotel, Janpath Road, New Delhi, by Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, in recognition of Soni’s remarkable contributions to public service and his relentless efforts in combating narcotics trafficking.

A Distinguished Career of Service and Excellence

Born on July 1, 1978, in Melawas, Rajasthan, to Kawar Lal Soni, Ghanasyam Soni’s illustrious journey has been marked by dedication and service. An alumnus of S.D. Government College, Beawar, and M.D.S. University, Soni excelled academically, earning honors in History and a Master’s degree, alongside showcasing exemplary leadership skills.

After qualifying the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2009, Soni joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 2010. With rigorous training across Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Singapore, he gained expertise in central excise, customs, and public administration. Currently, as Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Soni leads the charge against narcotics in Rajasthan.

Championing the Mission for a Drug-Free Rajasthan

Under Soni’s leadership, NCB Rajasthan has dismantled numerous drug trafficking networks and incarcerated offenders. His initiatives aim to protect the youth from addiction, promoting a healthier and safer society.

Reflecting on his mission, Soni stated:
“Our commitment at NCB is unwavering—to eradicate the drug trade completely and protect our youth from falling into the trap of addiction. A drug-free Rajasthan is not just a professional goal but a deeply personal priority.”

Vision for Rural Development and National Progress

In addition to his efforts in narcotics control, Soni is a strong advocate for rural development. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, he envisions villages as self-reliant hubs of national growth. His work in his hometown, Melawas, exemplifies this dedication.

Soni has also represented India at the International Narcotics Control Board Conference in Vienna, Austria, highlighting his global perspective on narcotics control.

Recognized for Nation-Building Efforts

The Bharat Gaurav Award recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to India’s progress. Soni’s efforts align with the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India 2047). His tenure at NCB Rajasthan has not only curbed narcotics smuggling but also fostered awareness among youth to lead drug-free lives.
