Medak(Dec, 23) : Medak Church, marking its centenary, stands as an architectural marvel and spiritual sanctuary in the town of Medak, Asia. A testament to a decade-long collaborative effort of twelve thousand workers, the church, completed in 1924, holds a distinctive position in the continent. Adorned in Gothic style, the cathedral boasts a length of 200 feet and a width of 100 feet, standing tall as the tallest structure in Asia. Noteworthy is its foundation, devoid of pillars, and its intricate design, a result of contributions from architects and artists across the nation. Celebrating Christmas here has become a tradition for the Christian community, drawing both local devotees and a significant influx of international tourists. With a capacity for 5000 worshipers, the church’s two-floor structure reflects not just a place of worship but a historical gem.
This Christmas, as the church commemorates a century, elaborate festivities are planned, starting at 4 am and lasting until 8 pm. The church administrators, expecting a massive turnout, have taken precautions, providing temporary amenities and deploying six hundred police personnel for security. The presence of CCTV cameras, drone surveillance, and adherence to COVID-19 protocols ensure a safe and joyous celebration for the devotees.
