Hyderabad : On June 27, 2024, the Secunderabad Railway Police conducted a surprise inspection targeting drug peddlers at the Secunderabad Railway Station. During the operation, they apprehended Bahan Swalsingh, who was transporting 14 kilograms of dry ganja from Muniguda, Odisha, to Secunderabad, Telangana. Swalsingh, 38, was arrested while in possession of the contraband, valued at approximately Rs. 3,50,000. The arrest took place on platform No. 2 during a routine check, with the ganja found in a backpack and a luggage bag. The case was registered under Cr.No.305/2024 U/s 8(c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (B) of the NDPS Act.
Swalsingh and his accomplice, Bharat, who remains at large, had transported the ganja via bus and the Konark Express train. The operation was supervised by Chandana Deepti IPS, Superintendent of Police, and S.N. Jawed, DSRP SC(U). The arresting team included B. Saieashwar Goud, IRP/SHO of RPS Secunderabad, D. Ramesh SIRP, P. Seetharamulu RHC, B. Harilal RPC, Nagubasha RPC, and K. Bhavani Shankar RPC. ADG Railway and Road Safety Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS commended the officers and men of GRP Secunderabad, promising suitable rewards for their diligence.
