Telangana State Police Inaugurates Eight New Bharosa Centers Virtually

Hyderabad(Feb, 6) : In a significant stride towards bolstering victim-centric services and fostering a safer environment, Telangana State marked the inauguration of eight new Bharosa Centers across its districts on February 6, 2024. Presided over by the esteemed Director General of Police, Ravi Gupta, IPS, and Shikha Goel, IPS, Additional Director General of Police of Women Safety Wing, the virtual ceremony heralded a milestone in the state’s commitment to supporting survivors of crime, especially women and children.

Shikha Goel highlighted the genesis of Bharosa Centers in 2013, rooted in Supreme Court guidelines for establishing one-stop support centers. Noteworthy progress was acknowledged, with the centers aiding in 4782 POCSO cases and 1163 rape cases until December 2023, alongside endeavors to raise public awareness.

Strategically situated across Telangana, Bharosa Centers serve as havens where survivors access counseling, legal aid, and medical support. The expansion to additional districts underscores the police force’s dedication to enhancing victim services and fostering safety.

The launch also unveiled a user-friendly website for the State Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), designed with cutting-edge technology for seamless access to critical information. Mrs. Shikha Goel emphasized the importance of transparency and accessibility, reflecting the department’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service.

During the virtual event, Ravi Gupta reiterated the significance of forensic science in criminal investigations, affirming the state’s commitment to bolstering forensic capabilities. Encouraging citizens to explore the new FSL website, the Telangana State Police assured ongoing support through Bharosa Centers, promising empathy and professionalism in aiding victims.
