Nizamabad Railway Police Crack Chain-Snatching Case, Arrest Suspect

Hyderabad(Jan, 31) : The Railway Police in Nizamabad successfully arrested an offender involved in a chain-snatching incident from a running train and recovered the stolen property. The accused, identified as Shaik Ibrahim, aged 25, and working as a sales boy in a cloth store, was apprehended at his residence in Islampura, Nizamabad. The incident occurred on 20th January 2024, around 00:30-01:00 hours, at Nizamabad railway station when the accused snatched a gold Mangalasutra weighing about 40 grams and a black beads chain weighing about 5 grams, totaling Rs. 65,000, from a lady passenger named Vijaya Laxmi. Following the complaint lodged by the victim’s nephew, a case was registered, and a special team was formed under Inspector M. Venkatram Naik. Utilizing CCTV footage, the team traced the accused and apprehended him based on credible information received on 31st January 2024.

During interrogation, Shaik Ibrahim confessed to the crime and led the police to recover the stolen gold chain and a portion of the black beads chain. The efforts of the Railway Police were commended by ADG Railways, Road Safety Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, and SP SRP Shaikh Salima IPS, who lauded the relentless efforts of SIRP H. Sai Reddy and his team, comprising M. Hanmandlu, S. Kuberudu, S. Ramulu, and Salauddin of RPS Nizamabad, who will be duly rewarded for their efforts.
