Hyderabad : The Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana has released the final electoral roll, revealing a total of 3,17,17,389 registered voters in the state. This marks a significant increase of 17,42,470 voters, equivalent to a 5.8% rise since January 5, 2023. The gender balance is nearly equal, with both male and female voters numbering around 1.58 crores each. Notably, there are 8,11,640 voters in the 18-19 age group, reflecting an increase of 5,32,990 compared to January 2023. To ensure accuracy, 6,10,694 entries for deceased, duplicate, and relocated voters were removed, and corrections were made for 5,80,208 voter records.
Additionally, it has been emphasized that applications for enrolment and correction of details in the electoral roll will continue to be accepted even after October 4th. Efforts have been made to improve gender balance and the accuracy of entries, with the gender ratio increasing from 992 to 998 and 743 in the 18 to 19 age group. The electoral roll also includes 4,43,943 voters above the age of 80 and 5,06,493 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
The continuous updating of the electoral roll will persist, encouraging all eligible individuals to apply for inclusion if they have turned 18 years old by October 1, 2023. Citizens are urged to review their enrolment details online and make corrections if necessary. Furthermore, extensive efforts have been made to purge the roll of inaccuracies, resulting in the removal of over 22 lakh dead, duplicate, and relocated voters.
To ensure inclusivity, initiatives like house-to-house surveys, address corrections, and collaboration with Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) in urban areas have been undertaken. Notably, the campaign to register 18-19-year-old voters achieved a remarkable 2.56% of the electoral roll. The successful execution of the second special summary revision (SSR) is attributed to comprehensive training of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in July.
Lastly, all pending claims and objections will be addressed, and eligible citizens are encouraged to file their applications for new enrolment or shifting within or outside their Assembly Constituency. These applications can be submitted online or through the Voter Helpline App (VHA) and will be accepted up to 10 days before the last date of filing nominations. Citizens can also seek assistance through the voter helpline 1950 of the Election Commission of India (ECI)
