Nehru Zoological Park Launches ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign to Eliminate Single-Use Plastics

Hyderabad(Oct, 1) : In accordance with the directives issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, New Delhi, Government of India, a dedicated campaign and cleanliness drive titled “Swachhata Hi Seva” was launched to promote a plastic-free environment. The initiative, aimed at raising awareness and taking action against single-use plastics, kicked off with a one-hour drive within the premises.

The event was graced by distinguished officials, including Trinadh Kumar, IFS, IGF, Kailash, IFS, AIGF from IRO, MoEF&CC, Government of India, along with VSNV Prasad, IFS, Director, Zoo Parks, Hyderabad, and Dr. Sunil S. Hiremath, IFS, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. The campaign commenced at 10:00 AM in the Children Park area inside the Zoo Park, where all zoo employees actively participated in the plastic-free drive, cleaning various areas including the parking lot, children’s park, and moat areas.

Trinadh Kumar, IGF, MOEFCC, Government of India, emphasized the importance of citizens avoiding single-use disposable plastic items and polythene covers, as they are non-degradable and pose threats to public health. VSNV Prasad, IFS, Director, Zoo Parks, Hyderabad, underscored the role of Nehru Zoological Park in conservation efforts and educating visitors about the significance of natural resources while urging the public to refrain from using single-use plastic items that harm the environment.

Several other officers and officials were present during the event, demonstrating their commitment to promoting a cleaner and more environmentally responsible society
