“Telangana’s Agricultural Miracle: Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme Sets Example for Other States”
Hyderabad(July, 8) : The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation scheme, known as the lifeline for the agricultural sector in Telangana, has been making remarkable strides by extracting water from the Pranahita River. It has successfully realized the aspirations of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, providing irrigation water and alleviating the plight of farmers during adverse weather conditions. The project marks a new chapter in the history of Telangana’s irrigation system as water from the Godavari River is lifted to the Sri Ram Sagar Project from Kaleshwaram upstream. This visionary initiative by CM KCR ensures a continuous water supply for farming even during dry spells, transforming the Godavari into a vital resource and enabling abundant crop cultivation. The Kaleshwaram project has garnered immense attention, with irrigation experts, intellectuals, and officials flocking to witness the world’s largest lift scheme firsthand.
Maharashtra leaders, impressed by Telangana’s growth under CM KCR’s leadership, visited the Kaleshwaram project and praised the government’s proactive measures to address irrigation issues. They lauded Telangana’s transformation into the nation’s “Granary” and acknowledged it as a shining example for other states to follow. Senior Maharashtra leader Bhanudas Markute, who expressed astonishment at the project’s magnificence, considered it a unique marvel in the world, surpassing anything he had seen during his travels across 32 countries.
The delegation, accompanied by MLA Jeevan Reddy, BRS leader Vamsidhar Rao, and ENC Venkateshwarlu, felt privileged to witness this extraordinary endeavor. Among the visitors were prominent figures such as former MLA Annasaheb Mane, Ghanshyam Anna Shelar, Prahlad Rathod, Sharad Pawar, Bala Saheb, Arun Kodu, Eknath Gogade, and others, all of whom were deeply impressed by the Kaleshwaram project’s grandeur and impact.
