International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir 2023 Announced, Connecting South India and Kashmir through Films

Srinagar-J&K (June, 23) : The press conference was hosted by Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, who introduced Dr. M. A. Mummigatti and Jai Prabhu to the media. Mushtaaque also introduced senior actor Tariq Javaid, senior filmmaker Mushtaq Bala, filmmaker Shazia Khan, and actor/filmmaker Gul Riyaz, all from Kashmir.

Mushtaaque, along with Tariq Javaid, Mushtaq Bala, Shazia Khan, and Gul Riyaz, extended a warm welcome to Dr. M. A. Mummigatti and actor Jai Prabhu. Mushtaaque expressed his happiness in hosting the Festival Director and Jai Prabhu, who have traveled all the way from Karnataka to Kashmir to spread love through films.

The Universal Film Makers Council (UFMC) and the Harman Cultural & Educational Society (HC&ES), in association with the Nava Karnataka Film Academy and the Kashmir World Film Festival, are jointly organizing a mega International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Spiritual Growth Center in Katra, Jammu. The festival is scheduled for August 5th and 6th. They have also announced the first-ever K L Saigal Award for the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, and they invite the people of the union territory to participate in this grand event.

During a press conference held at 7C’s Restaurant in Srinagar, Dr. M. A. Mummigatti stated that the vision of the festival is to bring together regional and Indian cinema for collective prosperity. Kashmir, known for its diverse beauty and intellect, would convey a global message of peace and tranquility through this festival.

Other film personalities who spoke at the event included Tariq Javaid, Mushtaq Bala, Shazia Khan, and Gul Riyaz. They all expressed warm feelings for the guests from Karnataka and assured them of their full support.

IFFJK will pioneer the presentation of the first-ever K L Saigal Award from Jammu, which will serve as a global symbol for all festivals. This prestigious honor will be bestowed upon prominent celebrities from Bollywood and the cinema world.

The establishment of the K L Saigal Award in Jammu marks a historic moment in Indian cinema. UFMC’s associates include renowned directors such as Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, and South Indian celebrity star Suman Talwar, who has worked on over 700 films in multiple languages. These directors, along with others connected to this initiative, always lend their support to elevate the world of cinema to new heights.

Prominent Bollywood and South Indian stars will be attending the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir in August.

Jai Prabhu, the emerging superstar of Kannada cinema, along with Dr. M. A. Mummigatti, plans to promote the art of cinema worldwide and looks forward to exploring new filmmaking opportunities in the diverse locations of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jai Prabhu announced the production of a feature film to be shot in collaboration with artists, technicians, and professionals from both Kashmir and South India.
