Congress Party’s Alleged Delay in CBI Consent Restoration Sparks BJP Criticism Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
Hyderabad(Jan, 3) : BJP Spokesperson N.V. Subhash raised concerns about what he perceives as double standards exhibited by the State Government regarding the investigation into alleged corruption on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). Subhash accused the Congress party of attempting to shield the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He pointed out that in October 2022, the Telangana Government revoked the general consent for the Central Bureau of Investigation , making it impossible to initiate any inquiry into the corruption allegations. Responding to comments made by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday, Subhash reiterated the readiness of the State President and Union Minister Kishan Reddy to order an inquiry promptly upon the restoration of general consent for CBI investigation.
Subhash alleged a strategic delay by the Congress to facilitate an alliance with the BRS in the Lok Sabha elections, questioning why the restoration of general consent for CBI investigation was being delayed if the allegations were unfounded. He emphasized that the people could discern the true intentions of the ruling party, recalling the Congress party’s prior demand for a CBI inquiry before the elections and questioning their reluctance to make a decision on restoring consent now.
