Telangana Opposition Shaken: BRS MP Venkatesh Jumps Ship, Joins Congress

New Delhi(Feb, 6) : In a significant political development, the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana faced a substantial setback as its Member of Parliament representing the SC reserved Peddapalli Lok Sabha Constituency, Dr. Borlakunta Venkatesh  defected to the Congress party. Dissatisfied with the perceived uncooperative stance of BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao and his son KT Rama Rao, Venkatesh tendered his resignation from the party and formally joined the Congress. His induction into the Congress fold took place in the presence of AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in New Delhi, where Venugopal extended a warm invitation by presenting him with a party scarf.

Joining Venkatesh in the Congress were former TTD Member from old Mahabubnagar district, M Jeevan Reddy, along with BRS leader Rahman and several other leaders. Following their entry into the party, all leaders, including KC Venugopal and CM Revanth Reddy, paid a courtesy visit to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence, where Venkatesh and Jeevan Reddy were introduced to Kharge, who welcomed the BRS leaders into the Congress fold.

The gathering also included Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, old Mahabubnagar MLAs, and other prominent figures. Meanwhile, CM Revanth Reddy, after participating in Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Ranchi and meeting with Sonia Gandhi to discuss state government initiatives and other issues, returned to Hyderabad following the induction of BRS leaders into the Congress.
