Surekha Yadav became Asia’s first woman Loco Pilot

Maharashtra : Surekha Yadav added another feather to the glory of Central Railway by becoming the first woman Vande Bharat Express loco pilot to drive Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express train on 13th March 2023.

Surekha Yadav was felicitated at platform number 8 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. She was grateful for giving the opportunity to drive the new age state-of-the-art technology Vande Bharat train.

The train left Solapur on time and reached CSMT 5 minutes before time. The process of crew learning involves following signals, getting hands on with new equipment, co-ordination with other crew members, following all parameters for train running. Surekha Yadav, a resident of Satara, Maharashtra, became India’s first woman train driver in 1988 and for her achievements, she has been honored with several awards at the state and national level.
