Hyderabad : The Government Railway Police (GRP) Telangana has successfully recovered 870 stolen and lost mobile phones worth ₹87 lakhs using the CEIR portal of the Department of Telecommunications. The recovered phones have been handed over to their rightful owners.
In a special event today, 110 mobile phones worth ₹11 lakhs belonging to railway passengers were distributed. Acting under the guidance of IG Railways and Road Safety, K. Ramesh Naidu IPS, and SRP Secunderabad, G. Chandana Deepti IPS, along with DSRP Urban S.N. Jawed and DSRP Rural K. Srinivas Rao, the GRP teams conducted operations across states like Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.
These phones were stolen or misplaced during train journeys, often due to theft by offenders targeting passengers seated near windows or doors. GRP advises passengers to secure their belongings and block stolen phones using their IMEI numbers on the CEIR portal at www.ceir.gov.in.
