Minorities to Vote in Favour of Congress in Next Assembly Elections : Former Minister Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad(Sep, 12): In a recent development, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is making strides in garnering support from minority communities for its forthcoming Minorities Declaration. The chairman of the Minorities Declaration Committee, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, and TPCC Senior Vice President Zafar Javeed have been diligently working to compile suggestions from influential Muslim and Christian socio-religious organizations, with over 300 recommendations received thus far. These suggestions encompass a wide spectrum of concerns, spanning economic empowerment, education, women’s empowerment, religious infrastructure, housing, and more.

The response has been substantial, as prominent Muslim and Christian organizations, as well as Shia Muslim groups, have submitted a collective total of nearly 160 demands. In addition to these demands, committee members have put forward more than 400 ideas for the welfare of minorities under a future Congress-led government. Shabbir Ali has emphasized that the resulting Minorities Declaration will serve as a comprehensive vision document, dedicated to ensuring the safety, growth, and prosperity of all minority groups, including Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, and others. He has vowed that the promises contained within the declaration will not merely be rhetoric but will be implemented with unwavering commitment.

The enthusiasm and multitude of suggestions received highlight a palpable sense of discontent among Telangana’s minorities with the current government, led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). It is evident that these communities, constituting nearly 14% of the state’s population, feel marginalized and neglected, and they look to the Congress as a viable alternative in the upcoming Assembly elections. To further consolidate support, the TPCC plans to host an interactive meeting with representatives from minority organizations and NGOs later this month, following the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad. This concerted effort underscores the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns and aspirations of the minority communities in Telangana.
