Hyderabad(July, 23) : On the basis of credible information, the Special Operations Team in collaboration with the LB Nagar Zone team and Chaitanyapuri police successfully dismantled an interstate drug syndicate, apprehending an interstate drug peddler named Ramesh Kumar. During the operation, a significant amount of Contraband Substance, Poppy straw, and other incriminating material were seized, collectively valued at Rs. 15,00,000/-.
The accused, Ramesh Kumar, who migrated to Hyderabad a decade ago and was engaged in the steel railing business, resorted to drug peddling to overcome financial difficulties. Several months ago, he came into contact with Chenna Ram, a drug supplier from Rajasthan, and began purchasing Poppy Straw drugs from him. Ramesh Kumar then sold the illicit substances to customers in Hyderabad at a higher price. He also processed the Poppy straw into powder for easy distribution.
Poppy straw concentrate, a product derived during the extraction of alkaloids from poppy straw, is a significant source of Morphine used in the illegal manufacturing of drugs like Heroin. Due to the ban on the sale and trade of Opium and Poppy straw, Ramesh Kumar’s activities were in direct violation of the law.
Acting on a tip-off, the SOT and Chaitanyapuri Police apprehended Ramesh Kumar, seizing the contraband substance from his possession. Subsequently, a search of his residence led to the discovery of additional Contraband Narcotic substance and incriminating material, reinforcing the evidence against him.
The commendable operation was conducted under the direct supervision of DS Chauhan-IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and B. Sai Sree, DCP, LB Nagar Zone, with guidance from K. Muralidhar, DCP, SOT, Rachakonda, and T. Janaki Reddy, ACP, LB Nagar Division. The relentless efforts of A. Sudhakar, Inspector of Police, SOT, LB Nagar Zone, B. Nagarjuna, Inspector of Police, Chaitanyapuri PS, and K. Prathap Reddy, SI of Police, SOT, LB Nagar Zone, contributed to the successful execution of the operation.
