Hyderabad : Former Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly responded to the corruption allegations against him in the Formula E racing event, accusing the Congress-led state government of launching politically motivated and baseless cases. KTR argued that these allegations are nothing more than a diversionary tactic to deflect from the Congress government’s failure to fulfill its promises.
He denied any wrongdoing, assuring the public of his innocence and his readiness to prove it through legal channels. KTR further explained that the Telangana government, through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), had invested ₹30 crore, while private sponsor Ace Urban contributed ₹110 crore. He emphasized that the event generated an economic impact of ₹700 crore for Hyderabad, according to an independent study by Nielsen.
KTR blamed the cancellation of subsequent races on the financial issues of the private sponsor and the Congress government’s failure to honor contractual agreements. He also accused the Congress government of tarnishing Hyderabad’s international reputation by mishandling the situation. KTR challenged the government to present evidence of corruption in the ongoing Assembly session and criticized the Congress for targeting the opposition with unfounded accusations. He also highlighted the international legal consequences faced by other governments, such as the case in Montreal, where similar cancellations resulted in lawsuits.
KTR concluded by urging the people of Telangana to focus on better governance rather than the Congress government’s diversionary tactics.
