Secunderabad : The Secunderabad Railway Police (GRP) along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have successfully busted two inter-state ganja smuggling rackets operating between Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Surat, and Gujarat. In a surprise check at Secunderabad Railway Station, three individuals were arrested and a total of 20.889 kg of dry ganja, worth ₹5,22,225, was seized.
The first incident involved two accused, Aslam S (27), an electrician from Chennai, who was transporting 12.294 kg of ganja from Visakhapatnam to Chennai. The second involved Mithun Sethi (33), a laborer from Surat, and Pandav Naik (60), both from Odisha, caught with 8.595 kg of ganja being transported to Surat via Secunderabad.
The operation, led by Inspector B. Saieashwar Goud of GRP Secunderabad and RPF Inspector Bhavani Shankar Saraswat, was carried out under the supervision of Chandana Deepti, IPS, Superintendent of Railway Police and S.N. Jawed, DSRP SC(U). The police have been praised by senior officials, including IGP K. Ramesh Naidu, for their effective action in curbing drug trafficking across state lines.
