India’s first travelling Photo Exhibition on Tiger

Hyderabad(June, 09) : India’s first travelling Photo Exhibition on Tiger inaugurated at KBR Park, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad on Friday evening. Senior IFS officer Rakesh Mohan Dobriyal, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), HoFF (Head of Forest Force) who was Chief Guest inaugurated it along with VC Sajjanar, Vice Chairman and MD of TSRTC.

Speaking on the occasion he described it as unique idea. He appreciated VC Sajjanar, who not being a Forest Officer, did his job going out of the way to organise an exhibition to create an awareness about the conservation of Tigers. He is taking forward my cause, he said and added that it he was pleased to know that it was a first of its kind of an initiative in India. We have 3167 tigers in India and 53 Tiger Reserves. In Telangana we have two tiger reserves and, we have also 30 tigers. Whenever prime habitat exists, there the tigers live. If tigers habituating means it is a good forest, he said

A joint initiative of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation(TSRTC), Indian Photo Festival and ICBM-SBE, it was kick started from KBR Park. The Hyderabad on Wheels, TSRTC bus in which the photo exhibition is on will be parked at KBR Park for next two days.

18 photographs which are the hard labour of 13 years of effort of wildlife photographer Dr Jitender Govindani, a professor by work were on display. Starting from today next 30 days the the India’s first Travelling Photo Exhibition on TSRTC bus will travel to different parts of Hyderabad. If people can’t go to forest to see the Tiger, we want to take tiger to them through this exhibition, VC Sajjanar, TSRTC Vice Chairman and MD told media on the occasion.

Wildlife Photographer Dr Jitender Govindani said the 18 photographs which were on display were the result of months of waiting and patience in deep jungles. Sometimes I had to return without clicking a single picture even after 20 days of waiting in the deep jungles. These pics are the outcome of hard labour of 13 years he said.

Speaking further he added that Tiger has an economic value of Rs 280 crore. Nearly 300 rivers originate from Tiger Reserves in India.
