India Reports 4,026 Active COVID Cases; Kerala, Delhi, and Maharashtra See Spike

New Delhi :  As of June 3, 2025, India is reporting a total of 4,026 active COVID-19 cases. In the past 24 hours alone, 65 new infections were recorded, 512 patients recovered, and 5 people succumbed to the virus. Since January 2025, the country has registered 37 COVID-related deaths and 2,700 recoveries. Among the states, Kerala continues to lead with 1,435 active cases, followed by Maharashtra (506) and Delhi (483), where 90 new cases emerged in the last day. Other regions—such as Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal—are also seeing a gradual rise, though their caseloads remain comparatively lower.

According to the World Health Organization, global COVID-19 activity has surged since February 2025, with the test positivity rate climbing to 11 percent—the highest level since July 2024. India is reflecting this broader trend. Wastewater surveillance in Bengaluru has detected an uptick in viral load, often an early warning of impending case increases. In response, testing capacity has been ramped up nationwide, and several states have established “flu corners” and isolation wards to manage potential outbreaks. State governments—particularly in Haryana and Maharashtra—have intensified testing efforts, while hospitals in cities like Mumbai and Chandigarh have reactivated dedicated COVID wards and ICU beds.

Public health authorities continue to urge everyone—especially the elderly and those with weakened immunity—to wear masks and receive booster doses as soon as possible.
