Andhra Pradesh : Former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy today joined BJP. Kiran Kumar Reddy, a 62-year-old politician, became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in November 2010 but resigned in March 2014. Later, opposing the Congress-led UPA government’s decision to bifurcate the state into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he formed his own political party, the Jai Samaikya Andhra Party, but after his newly formed party was defeated in the 2014 general elections disbanded it.
After the party’s defeat in the general elections, he returned to the Congress in 2018, however, remained inactive. BJP leaders believe that his joining the saffron camp will enhance BJP’s chances in Telangana.
