Election Battle Heats Up in Telangana with Rahul Gandhi Under Fire

Hyderabad : The political battle in Telangana is intensifying as fiery speeches and challenges are being exchanged among key leaders. Rahul Gandhi has become a prominent target in Telangana following his claim to form the government in the state. BRS MLC K. Kavitha launched an attack on Rahul Gandhi in Nizamabad, questioning his aspirations. “Rahul Gandhi has expressed his determination to bring the Congress party to power in Telangana, echoing Sonia Gandhi’s dream of achieving the same. However, the emphasis lies not in mere political aspirations, but in fostering the development of marginalized communities, including Dalits and minorities”.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s ambitions, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging him “to leave Wayanad and contest elections in Hyderabad”. This challenge, though bold, has been met with a counterpoint, suggesting that Congress could also invite Owaisi to contest from different constituencies. Such exchanges are characteristic of the charged election environment.

Supporting Rahul Gandhi, the Telangana Congress party dismissed Owaisi’s challenge as “ridiculous.” They claim that their campaign in the Old City of Hyderabad has rattled MIM leaders, leading to fear of electoral backlash. The rhetoric has escalated, with Owaisi attempting to blame Congress for historical events like the Babri Masjid demolition, a move countered by accusations of his own opportunistic political choices. Furthermore, Owaisi’s accusations related to the demolition of Secretariat mosques have been met with scrutiny, with Congress leaders claiming that it was he who supported the demolition. Hyderabad DCC President Sameer Waliullah said in a media statement on Monday.

The Congress party in Telangana is determined to focus on development issues and intends to hold other parties accountable for the challenges faced by the people in the Old City. They aim to steer clear of distractions caused by unwarranted challenges and instead concentrate on their development agenda. Ultimately, the political landscape in Telangana remains charged, with leaders engaging in verbal sparring as they vie for the favor of the electorate

Sameer Waliullah said that by challenging Rahul Gandhi, Asaduddin Owaisi has endorsed the accusation that MIM, BJP, and BRS are allies and share a common agenda of attacking the Congress party.
