CP Anand Unveils Traffic Action Plan: Focus on Safety and Efficient Traffic Flow

Hyderabad(Aug, 26): City Police Commissioner CV Anand recently conducted a video conference with all traffic officers, marking the initiation of a comprehensive Traffic Action Plan aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. The conference began by familiarizing new members of the Hyderabad Traffic Police (HTP) with the evolving traffic landscape, the rise in vehicle numbers, and recent changes within the Traffic division.

During his address, CP Anand stressed the importance of effective traffic management based on the “4 Es” framework: Engineering, Education, Enforcement, and Enablement. He highlighted that traffic duties directly impact the lives of citizens and encouraged officers to approach their responsibilities proactively.

In terms of engineering, field-level officers received instructions to implement strategies like reversible lanes, strategic U-turns, and median closures, all backed by thorough analysis. Directives also included the utilization of ITMS capabilities for rapid responses to road incidents and the removal of obstacles. Each traffic station was tasked with developing a model junction within their jurisdiction, aligning engineering efforts with the state government’s infrastructure projects.

Enforcement took center stage, emphasizing the importance of addressing all types of road violations. Special campaigns targeting high-risk offenses were highlighted, along with the increase in cranes and the implementation of the ROPE program to remove obstructions. The commitment to quality enforcement was emphasized.

Constructive dialogues with stakeholders such as schools, RTC officials, and auto unions were recognized as crucial. Enablement measures prioritized staff welfare through initiatives like body-worn cameras, medical check-ups, traffic umbrellas, and monthly recognition for officers. Enforcing parking norms, data analysis, continuous training, and utilization of signals were also stressed.

Senior officers were urged to lead by example, using rain gear, cones, and other equipment. The Additional CP Traffic outlined new initiatives within the traffic wing, focusing on collaboration and innovation to improve traffic management
