Hyderabad(Aug, 2) : Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has made a significant decision to resume the farmer loan waiver program from August 3. He reaffirmed that the welfare of farmers and the development of agriculture in Telangana remain the top priorities of the state government. Despite facing numerous challenges, the government remains steadfast in its commitment to farmers’ well-being.
CM KCR highlighted that economic slowdown due to demonetization, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state’s economy, and the center’s withholding of FRBM funds are some of the main reasons for the delay in implementing the farm loan waiver scheme. After reviewing the state’s healthy economic conditions, CM KCR instructed the Finance Minister and Secretary to restart the farmer loan waiver program. He emphasized that the government will continue to fulfill its promises and ensure the financial upliftment of farmers. Additionally, CM KCR ordered the completion of the farmer loan waiver program by the second week of September, similar to the successful Rythu Bandhu scheme, which directly deposits benefits into farmers’ bank accounts in a phased manner. The move demonstrates the state’s dedication to empowering farmers and strengthening agricultural development.
