CP Sajjanar Issues Stern Warning: Strict Action Ahead for Food Adulterators

Hyderabad | Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has issued a stern warning against the rising cases of food adulteration, declaring a zero-tolerance policy toward those endangering public health. Chairing a high-level coordination meeting at the TGICCC in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner announced the formation of special joint task forces of Police and Food Safety authorities to tackle what he termed an “adulteration mafia.” Calling adulteration equivalent to an “attempt to murder,” Sajjanar said strict legal action ranging from immediate arrests to invoking the Preventive Detention (PD) Act will be taken against offenders.

A new SOP is being prepared to streamline raids, sampling, and prosecution, while a dedicated WhatsApp number and toll-free helpline will soon be launched to encourage public reporting. Senior officials from both the Police and Food Safety departments attended the meeting, where the Commissioner emphasized that violators would face tough penalties under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Food Safety and Standards Act.
