Hyderabad, December 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday strongly condemned the provocative remarks made by Tahreek-e-Muslimeen President Shabban Mushtaq Mallik, who publicly proposed the construction of a “Babri Masjid” in the Greater Hyderabad region. The BJP stated that such remarks are “dangerous, inflammatory, and absolutely unacceptable,” especially when the Supreme Court has conclusively settled the Ayodhya dispute and a grand Ram Mandir is already nearing completion.
State BJP Chief Spokesperson N.V. Subash said the Revanth Reddy–led Congress government must act immediately and decisively. He recalled how, in West Bengal, even though the Mamata Banerjee government expelled her party MLA for making a similar statement, it failed to take any meaningful punitive action.
“We expect the Congress government in Telangana not to repeat Mamata’s weak-kneed response, but to take firm and exemplary action against this provocateur. Allowing such divisive voices to go unchecked will endanger peace not only in Hyderabad but across the entire state,” Subash said.Subash also questioned the failure of state intelligence to flag the reported public meeting held in Hyderabad on the 33rd anniversary of the Babri demolition, where Mallik allegedly announced plans for a Babri Masjid memorial and associated welfare institutions in Greater Hyderabad. “If such statements were made openly, how did the government’s intelligence machinery fail to detect and act? This is a shocking lapse,” he said.
According to Subash, Mallik went further by making comments aimed at distorting historical facts and provoking communal sentiment. “He even had the audacity to claim how a Babri Masjid structure could be rebuilt and justified his statements with twisted historical logic. This is nothing but a deliberate attempt to inflame passions,” he said.
The BJP spokesperson asserted that selective silence from the Congress government only emboldens such elements.“Unwarranted and irresponsible statements like these can severely disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Telangana. If Chief Minister Revanth Reddy fails to act against such provocateurs, he alone will be responsible for the consequences,” Subash warned. The BJP urged the state government to ensure strong enforcement of law and order, take prompt action as per the law, and prevent any attempts to disturb communal harmony.
