Hyderabad : In a major crackdown, the South Zone Task Force of Hyderabad along with Mirchowk Police apprehended a man involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit Castrol engine oil. The accused, Shaik Qayyum (32), a resident of Feelkhana, Begum Bazar, was operating from a godown in Noor Khan Bazar. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises and seized 710 liters of fake engine oil, along with cartons, barrels, labels, barcodes, and packaging material — all valued at around ₹3 lakh.
Qayyum, who previously worked as a mechanic and auto driver, confessed to starting the illegal operation to make quick money by selling the spurious oil at cheaper rates. A case under relevant sections of the BNS and Copyright Act has been registered at Mirchowk Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
