The tragic incident occurred as hundreds of devotees jostled for tickets for the 10-day Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam, starting January 10.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and conveyed his condolences, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Chaotic visuals from the site revealed a massive crowd struggling for space while police officials attempted to manage the situation at Vishnu Nivasam.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to ensure the safe distribution of tokens and prevent further mishaps.
