Hyderabad : The government’s recent decisions regarding polytechnic education in Telangana have left thousands of students in a state of uncertainty, prompting strong criticism from the student body. During a recent meeting with B. Venkatesham, the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, Mir Qurram Ali, the BRSV Coordinator, alongside concerned technical students, raised serious concerns about the government’s cessation of semester-wise supplementary exams. This policy change has left over a thousand students unable to clear their backlog courses, effectively stalling their education. “The government’s decision to stop conducting semester-wise exams has created a crisis,” said Ali, emphasizing the injustice faced by students who are now stuck without a way to complete their diplomas.
Furthermore, Ali criticized the government’s impractical decision to hold three exams in a single day, a move he described as both mentally and physically exhausting for students already under significant pressure. Despite multiple visits and attempts to meet with the Principal Secretary, students have received no concrete responses, fueling their frustration. “The Education Department continues to ignore our concerns, and this negligence is becoming intolerable,” Ali added.
In addition to the exam issues, the recent hike in intermediate fees has further exacerbated the situation, prompting Ali to call the state’s education policies increasingly unfriendly to students. “The hike in fees is just another attack on the youth and their education,” Ali stated, urging national leaders like Rahul Gandhi to take note of the situation in Telangana. He demanded that the government appoint an Education Minister to urgently address the mounting issues faced by students.
The students’ determination to fight for their rights remains strong, as they continue to push for a committee to be formed by Telangana’s political leaders to resolve these long-standing issues.
