Women Safety Wing’s SHE Teams Register Over 6,000 Cases in Six Months

Hyderabad : The Telangana Women Safety Wing, under the leadership of Director General Shikha Goel, IPS, conducted a half-yearly review of the SHE Teams initiative, which focuses on curbing sexual harassment against women and children in public spaces. Attended by officers from the Women Safety Wing, tri-Commissionerate, and over 300 personnel from 31 district police units, the meeting highlighted the significant achievements of the 331 SHE Teams operating across Telangana.

These teams have effectively addressed various forms of harassment through undercover operations, technology integration, and targeted interventions. The DG emphasized the importance of sustaining the ‘strong safety perception’ created by SHE Teams and called for intensive awareness campaigns, particularly in hotspots. Since January 2024, SHE Teams have registered 6,129 cases, conducted numerous counselling sessions, and played a crucial role in raising public awareness about women’s safety.

The review also highlighted the success of other noteworthy initiatives like the Cyber Ambassador Platform (C.A.P) and Bharosa Centers, which provide comprehensive support to victims of grave sexual offenses.
