Telangana Marks 10 Years of Statehood: A Decade of Progress and Aspirations

Former PM Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi Honored for Role in Telangana Statehood : Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad : On this delightful day, marking the completion of ten years since the achievement of statehood for Telangana, we celebrate the self-respect and aspirations of four crore people. As we honor this milestone, our thoughts turn to the brave Telangana martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of our separate state. I extend my deepest gratitude to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for their instrumental roles in realizing the long-cherished dream of a separate Telangana state.

Today, as we celebrate Telangana Independence Day, we reaffirm our commitment to freedom, which is deeply ingrained in the ethos of our land. From our humble beginnings, we have always valued our autonomy and challenged any form of oppression. As poet Dasarathi eloquently put it, “Telangana is a humble community, but also revolts if we mete out injustice.” We stand firm in our resolve to uphold democracy and social justice, echoing the sentiments expressed by the renowned poet Kaloji: “We chase away the non-locals if they betray us. If a local betrays us, we will bury them alive.” Today, as we reflect on the past decade, we recognize the challenges faced and the progress made. Our government has made restoring freedom a top priority, initiating the “Praja Palana” movement to dismantle barriers between the rulers and the ruled. We have transformed Pragati Bhavan into Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule Praja Bhavan, symbolizing our commitment to accessibility and transparency in governance.

Through programs like Praja Vani, we ensure that the voices of the people are heard and their grievances addressed directly. By lifting the ban on protests at Dharna Chowk and fostering a culture of open dialogue, we embrace the principles of democracy and dissent. Yet, our journey towards fulfilling the aspirations of the Telangana movement is far from over. As we embark on the next phase of our state’s development, we must confront the challenges of economic revival and cultural resurgence. Our government is committed to revitalizing Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, from promoting our traditional festivals like Bonam and Bathukamma to honoring our history of resistance and sacrifice. By declaring “Jaya Jayahe Telangana” as our official state song and envisioning a new state emblem that reflects our struggle for statehood, we affirm our identity and heritage.

Additionally, we are dedicated to bolstering our economy and creating opportunities for all. Through initiatives like the Green Telangana 2050 Master Plan and the Musi Riverfront Development project, we aim to stimulate economic growth while preserving our environment and heritage. Our commitment to social welfare is unwavering, as evidenced by our efforts to empower women, support farmers, and enhance access to education and healthcare. As we look ahead to the future, let us draw inspiration from the sacrifices of our forebears and the resilience of our people. Together, we can build a Telangana that shines as a beacon of progress, prosperity, and freedom for all
