Hyderabad(Sep, 15): PCCF(Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden of Telangana, Lokesh Jayaswal, IFS, is embarking on a significant study tour to Costa Rica, thanks to the Partnership Agreement between India and the USA on Sustainable Forest and Climate Adaptation. Joining him on this enlightening journey are a team of forest officers from Telangana, Bihar, Kerala, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. This study tour, scheduled from September 17th to 27th, 2023, focuses on eco-restoration and the payment of ecosystem services.
Lokesh Jayaswal has played a pivotal role as the state Nodal officer for the “Forest Plus 2.0 – USAID program,” launched in 2019. This program introduced cutting-edge methodologies and technologies that have integrated ecosystem services into planning and implementation, thereby facilitating a systematic and scientific approach to the “Rejuvenation of Degraded Forests” in Telangana. This initiative aligns with the goals set by the Chief Minister of Telangana to enhance the state’s forest cover through “Telangana Ku Haritha Haram.”
Furthermore, Lokesh Jayaswal, who holds an M.S. degree in “Environment & Sustainable Development” from the University College London, United Kingdom, has showcased Telangana’s accomplishments under “Telangana Ku Haritha Haram” on the global stage. In 2019, he presented these achievements at the 25th World Congress of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) in Curitiba, Brazil, contributing to the state’s conservation and environmental efforts on an international scale
