President Biden’s First Visit to India as President Coincides with G20 Summit

New Delhi(Sep, 8) : In a significant meeting today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the pleasure of hosting the President of the United States, H.E.  Joseph R. Biden, in New Delhi. This marked President Biden’s inaugural visit to India in his capacity as President, with the purpose of participating in the G20 Summit scheduled in New Delhi on September 9-10, 2023. During their discussions, Prime Minister Modi expressed his profound appreciation for President Biden’s vision and dedication to reinforcing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. This partnership, built upon shared democratic principles, strategic alignments, and robust people-to-people connections, continues to flourish.

Both leaders lauded the substantial progress achieved in implementing the forward-looking and extensive outcomes resulting from Prime Minister Modi’s historic State visit to the United States in June 2023, notably the strides made under the India-U.S. Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET). They celebrated the enduring momentum in bilateral cooperation, spanning diverse domains such as defense, trade, investment, education, healthcare, research, innovation, culture, and interpersonal connections.

President Biden extended warm congratulations to Prime Minister Modi and the people of India on the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the lunar south pole, underscoring the deepening collaboration between the two nations in the realm of space exploration.

In addition to bilateral matters, the two leaders engaged in discussions on a range of regional and global issues. They unanimously affirmed that the India-US partnership not only serves the interests of their respective citizens but also contributes to the greater global good.
