Hyderabad(Aug 17): The Director General of Police, Anjani Kumar-IPS, stated that facing tough and challenging situations can bring out the best in people. He spoke after honoring 38 police officers with prestigious awards like the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the eve of Independence Day, along with five officers who received the Union Home Minister’s medal for excellent investigation. He emphasized that dealing with difficulties is a fundamental aspect of police duty.
He praised the Greyhounds, SIB, and CI Cell for their outstanding professionalism, mentioning how other states with issues have taken inspiration and training from these organizations. While these specialized units are crucial, he stressed the importance of sensitivity for all officers in policing.
The Director General of Police expressed pride in the recognition the Telangana State Police received through these medals, attributing them to collective efforts and underscoring the need for teamwork. He appreciated the strong support the police force received from the State government, particularly in contrast to challenges faced by other states in securing budgets.
This ceremony, held to honor medal recipients, was a first of its kind. Notably, ADGP Vijay Kumar, who received a medal, acknowledged the growing number of medals being awarded to Telangana police and thanked the Director-General for the recognition.
During the event, two other medal recipients, SP Bhaaskaran R from SIB and Sangareddy SP M Ramana Kumar, shared their operational experiences. Samuel, the father-in-law of fallen Greyhounds junior commando B Susheel, was also present, highlighting the sacrifices made by officers like Susheel, who lost his life in an exchange of fire in Chhattisgarh.
The event was organized by ADG CID Mahesh M Bhagwat-IPS under the supervision of DGP Anjanikumar-IPS, and anchored by IG P&L M Ramesh IPS. Various high-ranking officers and dignitaries were also in attendance.
