Hyderabad(Aug, 17):Â On August 16, 2023, the joint efforts of TSNAB (Telangana State Narcotics Control Bureau) and local law enforcement resulted in the apprehension of two distinct groups involved in narcotics activities in Hyderabad. The first operation centered around the capture of Ogbaugu David Uka, also known by aliases Pastor Davison and Iwu, a 58-year-old Nigerian national. Disguised as a pastor, Uka was a cunning drug supplier based in Bangalore, posing as a welfare chairman for the “ALL INDIA NIGERIAN STUDENTS & COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION.” His intricate network supplied psychotropic drugs to Hyderabad’s streets, with recent connections to arrested peddlers. Uka’s facade crumbled when he was intercepted while attempting to deliver a haul of Ecstasy (M.D) pills, totaling 264 units worth Rs. 10.56 lakhs. The diligent efforts of TSNAB and Film Nagar Police led to his arrest and the seizure of incriminating evidence, including cell phones.
Simultaneously, another operation, a few blocks away, brought down a group of six individuals deeply entrenched in the illegal Ganja trade. Among them were Vankudoth Veeranna, an experienced peddler, and his accomplices. Veeranna’s history of run-ins with the law hinted at his prominence within the trade. Over the years, he had finessed his methods, using modified vehicles with hidden compartments to transport large quantities of Ganja from agency areas to Hyderabad and Maharashtra. This well-organized operation involved multiple drivers, including a police constable who had taken the dark path. The team’s sophisticated approach, complete with police sirens, aided their escapes from potential checkpoints. However, TSNAB’s timely intervention led to their downfall. The apprehension of the group unveiled a shocking haul of 44 kilograms of Ganja, luxury vehicles, cell phones, and a substantial Rs. 12 lakhs in sale proceeds all worth Rs. 1 Crore from their possession.
In the midst of these apprehensions, TSNAB and local authorities issued a passionate appeal to the public, urging vigilance against the growing threat of drug abuse, especially among youth and students. The chilling reality of addiction’s grasp on lives was evident, and the call for a drug-free city resonated more urgently than ever. The collaborative efforts of TSNAB, Langar House Police, and Film Nagar Police, led by their dedicated officers, signaled a resolute stand against the drug menace, aiming to safeguard the community’s future from its insidious grasp.
